Sold first under the Renault badge, then under Eagle's after American Motors passed to Chrysler, the Medallion received the same 150 bhp Z7X 711 as the Eagle Premier. It is the car often said to have had only a 2.2-litre four-cylinder: it really was offered with the 3.0-litre PRV V6.
The Z7X 711 is the « US market » variant of Douvrin's 3.0-litre, rated at 150 bhp — the mildest member of a family that stretches to 268 bhp. Eagle never struck a code of its own: the Chrysler booklet writes ENGINE TYPE Z7X, ENGINE SUFFIX 711. A 90° V6 of 3.0 litres, 93 × 73 mm bore and stroke, 2,975 cc, 9.3 compression, 150 bhp at 5,000 rpm and 232 N·m at 3,750, firing order 1-6-3-5-2-4 — mounted transversely and fed by MPI multipoint injection, while Europe still mounts it lengthways. Aluminium block and heads, forged crankshaft with 30° crankpin offset: it is the offset-crankpin version, with even firing intervals, and its rockers carry hydraulic lash adjusters — no valve clearance to set, the only such case in the Library.
Business being good, V6s crossed the Atlantic: the Eagle Premier, the Medallion and the Dodge Monaco all carry the 150 bhp 3.0-litre PRV — Z7X 711 for the two Eagles, Z7X 715 for the Dodge — in the same transverse architecture with electronic injection, the norm on every 1980s and 1990s PRV. They are not America's first PRVs: the DeLorean DMC-12 had already made the V6 a movie star.
The Eagle Premier, Dodge Monaco and DeLorean DMC-12 files; the full table of Z7X variants is on its Z7X file.
The Medallion was sold first under the Renault badge, then under Eagle's after American Motors passed to Chrysler — the same transition that made the Premier an Eagle and its sister a Dodge Monaco.
Everything known about the Z7X 711 comes from the 1990 service manual and the Chrysler booklet of the Eagle Premier: transverse, MPI injection, hydraulic adjusters with no clearance to set, offset-crankpin crankshaft, no knock sensor, no radiator cap, and number 89616 that splits production in two.
No document specific to the Medallion is in the Library yet — if you own one, the Contribute page awaits you. The vehicle-specific figures — capacities, speeds — remain to be established.
The engine figures come from the Eagle Premier's manuals — same code, same engine — and from the FAQ answers; nothing here is specific to the Medallion's body.
No Medallion-specific document; the Z7X 711 is documented by the Eagle Premier's manuals: 1990 service manual — group 9, engines · Chrysler booklet — 3.0 L engine overhaul · 1990 service manual — MPI multipoint injection
