The ZN3J is Peugeot's 2,849 cc with electronic injection: 170 bhp on the 505 V6 with LH-Jetronic injection, 147 to 150 bhp on the Lancia Thema 6V — the only Italian among the eleven PRV marques — and the engine of the fifteen or so civilian Peugeot P4 V6s. Bored out to 2,975 cc, the ZN3J3 of about 220 bhp opened the road for Peugeot's Paris-Dakar cars.
After the 604 and its three carburetted or mechanically-injected codes, the 505 V6 moves to electronic injection: the ZN3J, 2,849 cc, 170 bhp. It is this same code that Lancia chose for the Thema 6V, at 147-150 bhp — Lancia never struck a PRV code of its own, it bought the 505's engine as it was.
Two destinies beyond the saloon: the civilian run of the Peugeot P4 V6, about fifteen built around 1991-1992 by FAM with the 505's ZN3J, among the rarest PRV vehicles in existence; and the ZN3J3, bored out to 2,975 cc for about 220 bhp, which Peugeot Talbot Sport fitted from 1987 to its fast-assistance P4s on the Dakar — the story is in Tuners.
